Wild Coast in April
Great time to visit
April is one of the best months to visit Wild Coast.
All Months
April through October delivers the best weather — warm days, cool nights, and minimal rain. Winter months (June-August) can get surprisingly chilly, especially at night, so pack layers. Summer (November-March) brings heavy rains that can wash out roads and make hiking treacherous. But here's the thing about Wild Coast weather — it changes fast. You might start the day in shorts and end up needing a jacket by evening. The Indian Ocean stays warm year-round for swimming, though winter water temperatures drop to around 18°C. Shoulder seasons (April-May and September-October) offer the best balance of good weather and fewer crowds. December and January see South African school holidays, so coastal towns get busier and accommodation prices jump. If you're here for surfing, autumn swells (March-May) produce the most consistent waves.
